Writing topics

For a committed learner who determines to improve her English through writing her daily, choosing a topic would play a crucial role in her learning strategy. It should be a driving force for her learning as well as expressing her ideas and feelings. That means it requires several considerations. Although writing to improve her English, she does not have much time and energy to place this task aside from her focus on other things about her work. She needs to make a wise and balanced decision in order not to torture herself about her failure in achieving her goals. Writing a journal of daily thoughts and activities seems easy, and indeed it is recommended by many people. However, this advice does not function well with all learners. She is one of them. She finds it not thrilling. When she writes about her feelings and what happened, she often feels it so lame and barely tolerates to read through from the beginning to the end. She rarely reads what she wrote in her diary. She does not consider herself a good writer in that feel. Perhaps, she does not do well in reflecting and expressing her inner self. Besides, she could not describe anything precisely and economically. Consequently, she stops writing in the middle of the story that she initiates. She could not help but feels impatient with herself and a sense of wasting for her own time in doing so. As a multiple task taker, she wonders whether she should write on topics she has been focusing on, including her photographic project, her films and her self-taught film study, her art, and the lexicon project. However, to express her thoughts on complex topics in writing, she might encounter enormous difficulties even in articulating her thoughts in her mother-tongue language. After all, composing one's opinion about some particular thing is not an easy task. One has to study and write several times until the work gradually appears in a form. It requires a lot of time and energy. That might jeopardize her commitment to improving her English and make her give up on trying. Therefore, her daily writing should not be too easy yet not too difficult. Briefly, she has not had any idea about what she is going to write in her journals. Perhaps, the best with her personality is to go with the flow. She has to commit but remain flexible enough to enjoy her learning and working processes. One thing that could never be worthless to write about is to reflecting her thought process. In short, it is about writing her interests, the subjects she knows the best yet still there are many things to investigate, to organize to create a more coherent and presentable shape. After all, writing one's interest is broad and sufficient enough.
